Converse White Leather Hi Top Men

I think these are the new white leather shoes I want to get. My old Lacoste pair had the ultra slim soles but has reached retirement age. The new Lacoste white leather shoes don't do it for me. But these Converse white leather hi tops are perfect I think... I could go for the low cut ones but I think the hi tops look better.

Colorful Londoners

I met some colorful London girls last night at an exhibition private view in the Canary Wharf financial district. I loved their outfits... and was struck by the plaid bag which is very similar to mine. I had to ask where she got it from... guess? It's from H&M. I wonder when they released that?

The Iconic Kiwi Woman: Bringing home rugby gold

Most rugby fans and readers of newspapers in New Zealand and Britain will by now be familiar with the story of the sexual escapades of 4 England Rugby team members and a host of teenage and twenty-something New Zealand girls at the Hilton Auckland New Zealand.

So far we only know the identities of Kiwi Sophie Lewis and David Strettle. Sophie Lewis has since sold her story to The Sun. Describing her life changing experience, Sophie says, "He was fantastic in bed – awesome and had amazing staying power. He kept going like the Duracell Bunny in the TV ads... We must have done every position imaginable by the time we’d finished. What a night." Lucky Sophie... doing it in every way and making a tidy sum from it too for a NZ party girl (not a celebrity) - $12000. Its a far better rate than what most prostitutes get in Auckland I would say.

Elsewhere that night, other England rugby players gang banged another girl who subsequently alleged rape without wanting to lay formal charges. Both girls met the rugby players at Auckland's Pony Club. It is believed that her boyfriend had some part to play in the allegations. As her boyfriend, I would be wondering what on earth she was doing drinking with the players at the Pony Club in the first place. She was reportedly part of a gaggle of rugby groupies witnesses observed "cavorting and lap dancing with the men on the night one claimed she was raped".

It is not only the reputation of English rugby and the wider rugby community that is at stake here however. It is also the reputation of Kiwi women. Given the heroic status of rugby in New Zealand, the All Blacks are in a way the contemporary icons of Kiwi masculinity, it is not surprising that a great number of Kiwi women desire men conforming to such images. The gold-digging aspect is perhaps something new, inspired by the likes of Heather Mills?

Are the Kiwi women in this scenario not today's iconic rugby loving NZ Woman? And if so, are they not in fact bringing shame on New Zealand as a culture?

"Yeah, my legs are pretty short actually..."

Don't really like the outfit on beautiful Lily Cole, but man this sort of makes you realize how models actually look next to mortals. How bizarre.
Amazing! Is it even human?

Maybe we should be thankful there is a model industry, because without it maybe these giant girls would be counted as outcasts and feel bad about their height.
Maybe.

Fashion (or the lack of) in Lillehammer Norway

We went to Lillehammer with the knowledge that it hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics - a fact that Lillehammer never fails to point out at every public opportunity. Expecting a world class city, we found instead something of a rural retirement village of sorts. As for the clothing and fashion, if what we saw is any indication of the village's fashion index, Lillehammer is clearly not the place to go shopping...

Swedish Clogs in and out of fashion (and then in again)

This is a classic sight on doormats in Sweden. The clog. I remember running around in those floral ones as a little girl. I had white and red ones too. Every family has at least one black pair standing on their doormat. They are ugly but perfect when you're just gonna run over to the neighbor "borrowing milk" or something.

However!

I stumbled across this place, Swedish Hasbeens, where they have some new takes on the whole clog thingy. Well, new for me that is, they've made them since the '70s (the only time clogs actually was fashionable).

They are all ecological and really genuinely made with fine leather and pine tree.

Still, mixed feelings for me because of my association with those ugly clogs I showed in the beginning. But these last ones... I think I could wear them! I miss the sound of walking in clogs.

Old and new clogs or trätofflor/träskor/tollor... we have many words for them!

Gap Introduces Artist Editions T-shirts

GAP together with Whitney Museum of American Art and Art Production Fund has launched a limited edition T-shirt line with 13 T-shirts designed by some of the most influential contemporary artists; Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Kiki Smith, Cai Guo-Qiang, Barbara Kruger, Ashley Bickerton, Kenny Scharf, Glenn Ligon, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Kerry James Marshall, Hanna Liden and Sarah Sze.

This concept isn't feeling too fresh but still, it will probably sell like butter melts in sunshine.

My favourites:

Designed by Hanna Liden and to the right, Jeff Koons.

T-shirt designed by Chuck Close...

...and by Glenn Ligon.

They're all $28 but will surely be more on ebay...

Men's Messenger-Laptop Bag in Plaid and Leather Trim

Dior Homme geeks

Featured above is not some insecure foreign exhange students, no, it's models at the Dior Homme F/W 2008 photo shoot. How very... unfashionable. One would have expected a bit more glam for that one, right?

Speaking of DH, I remember these from the S/S 07 line... I loved the collarless shirts.

Have tried to dress both brothers and fathers in this but they think it's "gay".
OH DEAR it is not gay it is super hot. Hot hot hot.

Mens Colored Jeans - I'm not gay and I want some bright colored denims

I said to a male friend the other day that I was looking for a pair of bright red, yellow, or green jeans... having seen the Levi's York Super Skinny in Chilli. My wardrobe is full of blacks and some browns and I thought some intense color wouldn't go astray. When I asked him what he thought of those Levi's he said that only homosexuals would wear jeans in that color, which made me crack up! It's a common assumption amongst the masculine masses also that an interest in (or even passion for) clothing and fashion is likewise the preserve of the gay male community.

These are however ludicrous notions and associations! I am not gay  but I want a pair of bright colored jeans! It's proving to be rather difficult to track some down online however. I love the color of the Levi's and if they are the skinny cut I wouldn't mind a pair. I also like the colors of the jeans in the other images but I can't say I am into the ensembles - I don't particularly like the glossy jacket look.

RIP Yves St. Laurent

PARIS (Reuters) - French fashion king Yves Saint Laurent, hailed for revolutionizing the way women dressed, died on Sunday, a close associate told France Info Radio. He was 71 and had been in poor health for some time.

Rest in Peace YSL!
