Criminal Tattoo

Whilst in Sweden (Gothenburg in particular), I noticed an extraordinarily high number of young people sporting extensive tattoos covering entire arms and legs... and also numerous exhibiting neck tattoos. I wonder, are young Swedes more heavily tattoo'ed than their American, British, French, Chinese, Japanese, or Australian counterparts? Or is it mainly a Gothenburg thing - all the heavy tattooing?

Aesthetically, I saw a great many tattoos with Asian or Metal inspired symbols and themes - particularly on the armbands and sleeves. One wonders if a lot of the Asian ink is inspired by Japanese tattoo? Incidentally, there is an exhibition of Japanese Tattoo in Gothenburg at the moment.

I didn't notice any at all inspired by Russian Criminal Tattoo however... I think this is an aesthetic space that has been a little overlooked as a source of inspiration. I came across an encyclopaedia of Russian criminal tattoo recently (Russian Criminal Tattoo), and I must say a lot of it really is rather stylish and very original. I'd like to get the book, and more, I'd like to see some criminally inspired ink...

Burberry Factory Outlet London E9

Burberrys have come a long way since their iconic trench coats made their way from military trenches to become a global status symbol. In recent decades, the brand has suffered from a lack of stylistic innovation. This has all changed recently and some amazing new styles are to be found for both men and women.

Today, I discovered that their East London based Factory Outlet / Shop (29-53 Chatham Place, E9 6LP) is only a 10 minute walk from where I am staying. So I made my way there this afternoon and have returned home disappointed. I was hoping to pick up a black jacket or overcoat. But the men's selection at the outlet is dismal - mainly boring polo tees and jeans, though they do have an extensive accessories collection for both men and women. They just didn't have any jackets or overcoats which is what I was after. Actually, they did have some nice messenger bags too for £149.

If you are a woman however, you are in luck. They stock a full range of clothing including jackets, overcoats, skirts, dresses, and accessories. They have some beautiful stoles also. Fortunately, they have realized entire worlds exist beyond plaid / checks. I do like the women's quilted overcoat (below).

Price wise, you can pick up a good deal if you were to visit regularly... though I would always check online also from reputable dealers on Ebay. Security is intense so don't forget to check your bag in as the guards can be rather bossy. The store is open 10-6 Mon-Sat, 11-5 Sun.
